"We'll be more organized this year" is a statement about intent, and intent is the least reliable component in any household system. It is abundant in January and gone by the second week of February, and nothing about that is a character flaw.
Replace the decision with a default
Every recurring task that depends on somebody deciding to do it will eventually not get done. The fix is not more resolve; it is removing the decision. A rotation that assigns itself, a reminder that arrives at the right time, a list that already knows what the week needs.
One system, not five
The other January failure is adopting four new apps at once. Each one asks for setup, attention, and a new habit. Households that stick with anything usually moved one thing — the calendar, or the lists, or the maintenance — and let it prove itself before moving the next.
Aim for a household that requires less of you, not one that demands more discipline from you.
